Franco Stupaczuk and Miguel Yanguas are out of the Italy Major. The world No. 6 and No. 7 fell 6-4, 7-6 to Jerónimo González and Lucas Campagnolo in the round of 16 — the day's heaviest upset on a card that also carried a home favourite into the semi-finals.

The seeding gap made this the result of the day. González (No. 14) and Campagnolo (No. 21) were the lower-ranked pair on paper, facing a partnership seeded off the back of top-eight rankings. They never trailed on the scoreboard.
They took the first set 6-4, then refused to let the match drift to a decider, closing out a tight second in a tiebreak. Stupaczuk and Yanguas could not force the third set their pedigree demanded.
The consequence is a hole in the men's draw. A team many had pencilled into the quarter-finals is gone, and González and Campagnolo inherit a far more navigable route through that section.

Italy's Giulia Dal Pozzo and Nuria Rodríguez survived the wildest match of the round. They led with a 6-4 opener, were bageled 6-0 in the second, and then held their nerve through a third-set tiebreak to advance.
That 0-6 collapse could have finished them. Instead they reset, edged the decider on the breaker, and kept the home interest alive — setting up a far bigger afternoon.

Then came the upset. Rodríguez and Dal Pozzo — the latter ranked No. 50 — knocked out the seeded pairing of Claudia Fernández (No. 6) and Sofia Araujo (No. 8), a differential of dozens of ranking places, to reach the semi-finals.
They dropped the opening set 3-6 and looked bound for an early exit. From there they turned it around, taking the second 6-3 and pulling clear 6-2 in the third. It was their second win of the day, hours after the three-set escape in the R16.
For Dal Pozzo it is a landmark run on home soil. For Araujo and Fernández, an early exit that dents their season points tally.
