The Italy Major's round of 16 produced its biggest men's upset when Jerónimo González and Lucas Campagnolo eliminated sixth-ranked Franco Stupaczuk and Miguel Yanguas in straight sets. It headlined a 32-match day that also carried a home-soil story — Italy's Giulia Dal Pozzo — all the way into the women's semifinals.

On paper this was a mismatch. Stupaczuk and Yanguas arrived ranked No. 6 and No. 7 in the world; González (14) and Campagnolo (21) sat a combined 22 places below them. The rankings never reached the court.
González and Campagnolo took the opener 6-4 and then refused to let the match slip into a decider, edging a tight second set in a tiebreak to win it 7-6. Denying Stupaczuk and Yanguas a route back into the match was the difference — the seeds never found a set point of their own.
The result is the day's most consequential in the men's draw. A top-eight seed is out in the round of 16, opening a quarter for the pairs behind them, and Stupaczuk and Yanguas — still a relatively new partnership — shed valuable points this early in the week.

Rodríguez and Dal Pozzo took the first set 6-4, then were bagelled 6-0 in the second, handing the initiative straight back to Orsi and Llaguno. The match came down to a third-set tiebreak.
They held it, 7-6, to book a quarterfinal place. For Dal Pozzo — the Italian ranked 50th, playing at home — it was the start of the day's most eye-catching individual run.

The gap was even wider here. Claudia Fernández (6) and Sofia Araujo (8) are both top-eight players; Dal Pozzo sits 50th and Rodríguez outside the featured seeds. That made this a second seeded scalp in a single afternoon.
After dropping the first set 3-6, Rodríguez and Dal Pozzo reversed the momentum decisively, taking the next two 6-3, 6-2. Their second win of the day sends them into the semifinals — a genuine outsider run, and one Dal Pozzo will have the Italian crowd behind for.

No drama at the top. The world No. 1 pair conceded just two games, closing out 6-1, 6-1 in a routine passage to the quarterfinals.
